Extending a Helping Hand to Vulnerable Communities

The ongoing crisis in Cameroon’s North-West and South-West Regions, which began in 2016, has forced many families to flee their homes in search of safety. Among those most affected are internally displaced persons, persons living with disabilities, and children who have lost their parents.

On June 10, 2024, Winner Kids Worldwide Foundation (WIKIF) extended a helping hand to six vulnerable individuals who had been identified during the organization’s community needs assessment in Mile 16, Buea, in the South-West Region of Cameroon.

The beneficiaries included a 50-year-old internally displaced man, a 33-year-old deaf and mute man, and four children who had lost their parents and fled from Bamenda in the North-West Region to seek safety in the Mile 16 community.

Recognizing their urgent need for food and basic necessities, WIKIF organized support for these vulnerable individuals and provided three bags of rice to help ease their immediate food challenges.

The beneficiaries gathered at the Mile 16 Integrated Health Centre to receive the food assistance. This intervention reflected WIKIF’s commitment to identifying vulnerable people within affected communities and responding to their needs with compassion, dignity, and humanity.

Our Commitment to Vulnerable Children and Communities

At WIKIF, we believe that every child deserves care, protection, and the opportunity to live with dignity, regardless of the circumstances they face. We also recognize the importance of supporting vulnerable adults and persons living with disabilities who are struggling to meet their basic needs because of displacement and conflict.

Although this food donation was a modest intervention, it represented a meaningful step toward alleviating hunger and reminding affected individuals that they are not forgotten.

WIKIF remains committed to supporting vulnerable children, internally displaced persons, and marginalized communities through humanitarian assistance, educational support, nutritional interventions, and community inclusion.

However, the needs of these communities remain significant, and continued support from donors, partners, and compassionate individuals is essential to expanding our impact.

Together, we can bring hope to vulnerable children and families, one act of kindness at a time.
